TED Talks Review (Bel Pesce: 5 ways to kill your dreams)

This TED talks episode was about 5 things that will kill your dreams. The five things she says that will kill your dreams are: 1) Belief in overnight success. 2) belief that someone else has the answers. 3) belief that when growth is guaranteed we should settle down. 4) belief that our faults are someone else's. 5) Belief that the goals are all that matter.

There were some visuals used in the form of slides in the presentation.

There were no questions asked, but there was some humor was used in the opening when she said, "I am here to talk to you today about 5 ways, How NOT to follow your dreams" which got a chuckle out of the crowd.

I felt that the presentation was paced pretty well, and it followed an introduction, points 1-5, summary structure. Overall, I felt engaged and I enjoyed this presentation.

  1. This post does make me want to watch this video for myself. Sometimes we do forget that success does not come overnight. Goals are all that matter is another thing that we get caught up on. Thanks for the insight. Time to go watch.

  4. There is so much truth to this, especially the second, belief that someone else has the answers. This happens quite frequently in our society and it's as if were waiting for someone to tell us not, when in reality everything comes down to us and our willpower to do something and achieve those dreams. As they say the best dreams, are the ones your living in.
