In this report, I will be looking at VMware and Microsoft and how they utilize social media.
VMware uses social media to promote their company and products, and they post and tweet multiple times a day, usually about one of their products.
Microsoft also uses social media to promote their company and products, but also sometimes posts about non Microsoft related stories. Microsoft also posts and tweets daily, sometimes about Microsoft and it's products sometimes about other stories, usually in the tech industry.
VMware's target audience is people currently working with VMware, interested in VMware, learning about VMware, or anyone that they believe could benefit from their products.
Microsoft's target audience is mostly for people using/interested in Microsoft's products, but also for anyone in the tech industry.
VMware manages it's relationships with its consumers by frequently providing info on their products.
Microsoft manages it's relationships with its consumers by responding to comments on their posts.
VMware's strategy seems to be to use Facebook and Twitter to frequently post helpful information on their products, and occasionally post about special offers.
Microsoft's strategy seems to be to post and tweet about a variety of different tech-related topics.
