TED Talks Review (Bel Pesce: 5 ways to kill your dreams)

This TED talks episode was about 5 things that will kill your dreams. The five things she says that will kill your dreams are: 1) Belief in overnight success. 2) belief that someone else has the answers. 3) belief that when growth is guaranteed we should settle down. 4) belief that our faults are someone else's. 5) Belief that the goals are all that matter.

There were some visuals used in the form of slides in the presentation.

There were no questions asked, but there was some humor was used in the opening when she said, "I am here to talk to you today about 5 ways, How NOT to follow your dreams" which got a chuckle out of the crowd.

I felt that the presentation was paced pretty well, and it followed an introduction, points 1-5, summary structure. Overall, I felt engaged and I enjoyed this presentation.

How VMware and Microsoft use Facebook and Twitter

In this report, I will be looking at VMware and Microsoft and how they utilize social media.

VMware uses social media to promote their company and products, and they post and tweet multiple times a day, usually about one of their products.
Microsoft also uses social media to promote their company and products, but also sometimes posts about non Microsoft related stories. Microsoft also posts and tweets daily, sometimes about Microsoft and it's products sometimes about other stories, usually in the tech industry.

VMware's target audience is people currently working with VMware, interested in VMware, learning about VMware, or anyone that they believe could benefit from their products.

Microsoft's target audience is mostly for people using/interested in Microsoft's products, but also for anyone in the tech industry.

VMware manages it's relationships with its consumers by frequently providing info on their products.

Microsoft manages it's relationships with its consumers by responding to comments on their posts.

VMware's strategy seems to be to use Facebook and Twitter to frequently post helpful information on their products, and occasionally post about special offers.

Microsoft's strategy seems to be to post and tweet about a variety of different tech-related topics.

Why I am at MATC

My name is Justin Tenaglia and I am enrolled in the IT networking specialist program here at MATC. I decided to go to MATC because it is relatively inexpensive compared to most universities, and I will be able to graduate without any debt. I don't currently have any professional IT experience, though I am the go-to IT guy for friends and family.

Ever since I was young I loved technology. I was always on the computer and I loved tinker around with it and play video games. I still like working with computers so it made sense for me to major in the IT field. After I graduate I plan on pursuing a job in virtualization.
